Our limitations are what we have created as our belief about ourselves. We have potential beyond belief, most people never realise that potential due to certain beliefs they have about themselves.

We experience feedback from parents, teachers, neighbours, acquaintances etc since we were just toddlers and we have internalised those perceptions as the truth about ourselves but many of those perceptions could not be further from the truth. others may not believe in you but you are they are the last person left to believe in yourself.

We have to move our thinking from being rigid to being flexible. The more flexible you are the more you can accomplish. People take pride in consistency, this is what I always thought and this is what I think today. This does not take account of any new insights that you receive.

We should stop judging others

Earl nightingale said, “when you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself”. Every time you judge others it is usually in areas that you are weakest yourself or dislike most about yourself.

If you can recognise their flaws it is because you can see them in yourself. You are not recognising the great human being the other person really is and you might be making assumptions without understanding what the situation really is. When we stop being judgemental we see things and people as they are, we can start living in the present moment and be happy.

Complaining is a bad habit

Everyone complains a little, the real problem is when people complaining forms a large part of one’s everyday communication. It can be soul-draining for the complainer and for those listening to ongoing complaining. It can be particularly difficult for other members of the person’s family. In addition, children brought up with complaining can themselves form the complaining habit.

There are times when complaining is justified and necessary. For instance, if you get a bad product or a very poor service in a restaurant giving feedback is helpful to the provider as well as being assertive and standing up for your rights – you made the decision to take action.

Are there areas of your life that need change but you find yourself in denial about them. ignoring them or just hoping they will go away? Maybe, there is a problem with your weight, your relationship or your lifestyle in general and you put things on the long finger.

The strive for perfection comes from a deep sense of insecurity, not being enough to be accepted by others. When somebody is not accepting of themselves are they are, they believe that others will not be accepting of them either.

Perfectionists believe that if they can make everything about them seem perfect they will finally feel the inner acceptance that they long for. They are terrified of making mistakes. Making mistakes means that when others judge them they see them as flawed.

When a couple starts courting and up to the time they get married, they often do the right things to help them grow together in friendship and love. Then, when they settle into their married life they can take the marriage for granted in the expectation that all will be fine if they don’t invest in the marriage.

If we compare this to the time and effort that is put into creating a beautiful garden. Finally, the day has arrived when it is completed and the friends come to the party. Everything about the garden looks rosy. What would happen if you no longer paid attention to the garden? Gradually the weeds would start to grow and the once beautiful garden now begins to look like an eyesore.
